At The Lost Village of Dode, Kent we are blessed to have such wonderful people using the church for their wedding, afternoon tea, naming ceremony or celebration of life.
Feedback is an important aspect for us to ensure everyone who visits gets the service they deserve. In this month’s blog we have put together a few comments from our wonderful visitors for you to peruse.
“Dode were fantastic throughout this year and on the magical day itself, helping to give us the day we had always dreamed of. They have a super friendly team and were really accommodating when we had to rearrange it three or four times! They have very kindly facilitated us to split our day in two, so we will be having the handfasting ceremony next year on our first wedding anniversary where we can celebrate with all of our friends (hopefully).
The location is as incredible in real life as it is in the pictures, the building creates a very personal and intimate feel. We would highly recommend this venue to anyone getting married.
Thank you everyone!”

“Stunning surroundings, a really special place for an unforgettable event. Friendly and professional management too. I would love to come visit Dode again soon.”

“Totally atmospheric and full of Old English charm. I visited with a dear friend for the Christmas carols concert. The staff provided a car to get to the chapel from the car park as the rain was torrential! Such a thoughtful touch. Mulled wine and treats to share, it was one of the highlights of my Christmas season. Highly recommend’

“Well what can we say? We have just had one of the best days of our life. Every single thing that happened was perfect. Graham and Ray were great all the way through the day. Graham I especially want to single out for just making us and everyone feel at home and relaxed the whole time we were there. The dode is wonderful and all of our guest were so stunned by just how beautiful it was. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for letting us use your amazing place. It’s now a very special place to us too.”

“I have photographed at Dode on many many occasions and have only ever seen an extensive attention to detail to make the day as joyful an event as possible from every member of staff at Dode.
The location is unique and beautiful, there are a limited number of guest spaces therefore if it tends to be very close and unique celebrations tailored to the day, I will say however if you are planning a large evening reception you can always take that to a different location after the wedding but many of the weddings I have shot here tend to keep the gathering small to stay at Dode for the duration of the day.
To myself as a photographer, though an intimate location, I never tire of shooting here, it simply takes my breath away every time.
As a matter of fact I remember the first time I shot here, I went home and asked my wife to marry me again just so we could use the location, my wife at the time thought I had been up to no good but once I showed here the photos she totally understood my suggestion.
To anyone considering getting married here if it is an intimate, honest and heartfelt celebration of love in a 900 year old church with the opportunity of hand fasting and rings delivered by an owl then Dode will defiantly be your location just talk to the team at Dode (and yes I am pleased to say I am one of the team now as the recommended photographer for Dode) and you will find everyone only too pleased to help in any way they can.”

“We could not recommend The Lost Village of Dode more! From the moment we were shown around by Doug, to returning the night after our wedding to stay at the cottage together, we fall in love with it more and more every time.
Stepping into the church with hay strewn across the floor and candles glowing you can’t help but get a feeling of warmth, love and belonging. Every one of our guests were taken aback by the beauty of Dode and spent a lot of time just taking in the stunning surroundings.
We booked our wedding with Becky and despite the ever changing rules and regulations around COVID, she made sure we were kept updated every step of the way and could plan our big day while adhering to the guidelines.
Our day was run so smoothly by Graham who introduced himself to us in the morning, made sure we were put at ease and everything was in place for our guests. He has a great character and clicked very quickly with us all, being around when you need him but making it feel like we had the place all to ourselves to celebrate with our loved ones. Even going so far as to help collect all of our belongings strewn about and lock up the cottage following the last minute madness before the ceremony!
We will always hold a very special place in our hearts for Dode. We cannot wait to return for future events with our family and have the opportunity to remember our magical wedding day together.
Doug, Becky and Graham, we can’t thank you enough.”

“Beautiful, rural and rustic setting. It was the perfect place to get married, small and personal a completely unique venue and the hosts can’t do enough for you, we were married here 16 years ago and after visiting again recently I still felt the same joy.”

“As soon as we walked into dode we decided it was the place where we were going to get married, we hadn’t even looked anywhere else. We booked it there and then.
Dode is truly magical and to be able to wed there was a dream come true.
From the very beginning everything was dealt with smoothly and ease. There was no stress at all involved in planning our wedding. Doug and Becky made everything simple for us, down to offering suggestions for wedding suppliers to planning the timing of the day.
Dode doesn’t need any decorating as it’s already so beautiful. The caterers, photographer and florist that were supplied by dode in our package were more than we could have asked for and everything was just perfect. Any special requirements such as bringing a piano up on to the alter for a sing song in the evening or having our first dance outside in the grounds of dode was also catered for! We were told by our guests that it was the best wedding they had ever been to and that the day just flowed naturally. It was one of the best days of our lives thank you so much for making it perfect.”
